Training and Professional Development
We consider our comprehensive training programs to be one of the most important ingredients to our growth and successful reputation. Each potential recruit goes through a demanding interview process prior to employment. Upon passing the GMF pre-employment phase the new hire is processed into our system and enters our training program beginning their initial trial phase of employment. Their advancement and compensation will depend largely on their own ambition. Our professional development program was designed to motivate our personnel to better themselves as traffic control technicians and reward them for their progress. However, without exception, our traffic control technicians are certified by the American Traffic Safety Service Association (ATSSA). In addition, most are OSHA–10 and certified by the American Red Cross in CPR & First Aid. Many also have valid security guard certifications. Quality control and ongoing coaching is carried out by our crew leaders and field supervisors. We created a crew leader and supervisor training program that has helped make GMF work zones the safest in the industry. Our industry leading program also improves employee retention and produces an environment for career advancement. We believe professional development through training and experience creates a loyal, qualified, and elite workforce.
Our crews have a tremendous reputation because each crew has a crew leader who has gone through our crew leader training program. The crew leader program teaches the skills needed for coaching and supervision. We believe that the better our staff are trained, the more on-going coaching they receive, and the better supervision we provide, the better service we can deliver. Therefore, each two member crew consists of a flagger and a crew leader which increases the quality of service we provide.
Road Supervisors / Safety Managers
Our Road Supervisors act as safety managers in the field. They are experts at work zone safety design and regulation and have gone through advanced training and demonstrated skills with problem solving and resource management. They provide an added layer of checks and balances, further ensuring work zone compliance and safety. Each road supervisor provides direct support to crews in their territory. Our layered process produces the safest work zones in the industry!
